A budget proposal that would conclude the record-setting federal closure in US history is reaching the House of Representatives for a critical decision on the coming day.

On the sixth week of the political impasse, congressional members are reassembling in Washington to decide whether to pass a Senate package that would support federal agencies for the next eight weeks.

Majority party officials voiced optimism the spending plan would be approved by the lower chamber, notwithstanding their slim advantage. But leading opposition members vowed to oppose it.
