Iran Reports Assault on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area close to the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the American officials has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
