Combatants chuckle as they ride on the back of a transport truck, racing by a line of nine lifeless forms and heading facing the sinking Sudanese sunset.

"Look at this extensive effort. See this act of genocide," a combatant exclaims.

The individual beams as he turns the video equipment on himself and his companion militiamen, their paramilitary insignia clearly shown: "These people are all going to perish this way."

The combatants are celebrating a mass killing that relief organizations fear claimed the lives of over two thousand individuals in the Sudan's urban center of al-Fashir last month.

A City Isolated from the Outside

Following their control of the urban area under blockade for approximately an extended period, from the summer the militia moved to strengthen its control and blockade the leftover inhabitants.
