Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the club's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant support from above,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
