The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Critical Role Track

This latest animated series, the most recent animated series from the beloved role-playing group, revealed a new introductory sequence. It features our favorite cast of misfits, misfits, and rogues kicking ass and making their mark, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for characters such as the voice actor's mage Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was missing in the music selection.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar composition created by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track from the soundtrack album of that title, the second one put out by the production company's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful nostalgic choice, and I suspect that devotees of the second campaign will appreciate its presence.

But for me, The series' intro fails to capture the excitement and excitement that accompanied the second campaign's live-play sessions. "It's Your Turn", written by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was first revealed in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and fun. Back then, I hadn't seen the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, the creators has stated that the series will have a few changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its intro appears as one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be available to watch on the streaming service from November 19. For those eager before that, or wish to prepare to learn about the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are accessible on the audio platform and YouTube.
