Ex-England skipper Lewis Moody has been encouraged to tackle motor neurone disease with "all his might" by ex-colleague and co-World Cup champion Will Greenwood.
The 47-year-old sportsman, learned he had the progressive neurological disorder a fortnight back and has shared with a morning news program that he is struggling to confront the implications of his diagnosis.
Rugby great Rob Burrow and Scotland and British and Irish Lions great Doddie Weir have both passed away due to the disease within the past three years.
"He's an incredible person that we cherish deeply," Greenwood, who teamed up with Moody for the national team and club side, stated during a national sports program.
"The news is heartbreaking, because he is among the finest people. And I know there is no logic in these matters - how you leave this planet - but you root for the good guys."
"He's completely without ill-will, he is incredibly hopeful individual you can ever meet... and then he had a capability in matches to just turn a switch and be a remarkably determined player."

Leicester's representative, the organization's leader at Moody's long-time team, securing multiple domestic championships and two European crowns over 14 years, also commended Moody as a person, as well as a player.
"The numbers, silverware and recognition demonstrate the exceptional athlete Lewis was, but that is only half the story," stated the official.
"One minute he's parading around with the World Cup trophy and the subsequent match day he'd be in the ticket office where I worked, responding to enthusiast inquiries if we were particularly swamped and supporting ticket distribution."
