The Streaming Giant Selects Spot-On Actor for Bentham in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment
Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation won’t take place until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has recently been selected.
The platform declared Tuesday that Cole Escola has joined the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bon Clay. This character possesses the power to transform into an perfect replica of anyone they’ve touched with their main hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will play a rendition of that character reinterpreted as non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the original manga and anime.
The new cast member will work alongside multiple fresh additions set to bring the group to reality, including chief Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the ensemble as the monarch of Alabasta.
Although the role is a important part of the organization, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Given the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this signals a significant shift in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could suggest additional alterations to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the part. Besides their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.
Netflix's live-action One Piece show is due to premiere for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
