The co-creator of Call of Duty, who helped create the wildly popular franchise Call of Duty, has tragically died in a car accident in California he was 55 years old.

His passing was confirmed by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the video game company which he helped establish.

The renowned industry figure lost his life when his car crashed and caught fire on a freeway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This is a heartbreaking loss, and our hearts are with his family and friends, those closest to him, and everyone impacted by his creative vision," a representative from Electronic Arts stated.
